Ellis Park Stadium

Ellis Park Stadium is a rugby union stadium in the city of Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa. It hosted the final of the Rugby World Cup 1955, which was won by the home team, SPRINGBOK. This is a great stadium's most modern stadium when the state was upgraded in 1982 to accommodate almost 60,000 people. Now, the stadium hosts games - football and rugby and also used as a venue for other large events, such as outdoor concerts. The stadium has become synonymous with rugby as the only time when rugby was not played at Ellis Park during 1980 and 1981 when the stadium was under construction during an upgrade. In 2001, a Stampede occurred during a football match between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. 42 people were killed, Ellis Park Stadium tragedy made him the kind of event is the biggest event in South Africa.
